jangan perang ah long dulu

KUALA LUMPUR: About 450,000 civil servants are in debt, taking home with them less than 40 per cent of their monthly pay, it was disclosed here yesterday.

Heads of ministries and departments should be humane in dealing with these civil servants because in the situation they are in, they are vulnerable to corruption and moonlighting, Cuepacs secretary-general Ahmad Shah Mohd Zin said yesterday.

Ahmad Shah said with more than 60 per cent of their salary committed to debts every month, this group of workers needed ‘special attention’.

He said the bulk of the salary of these government servants was deducted at source as payment for various loans like loans for housing, cars, renovations, education and hospitalisation.-the borniopost
